Earlier this month I discussed a square POS installation that I did at Woody’s Farm to Table. Unfortunately, this was not the best solution for this particular establishment. I am still very much a proponent of Square POS, however, they are simply not ready for the restaurant industry. If you are a Coffee Shop or a small boutique business, Square is still a great solution for you and I encourage you to check it out.
In the case of Woody’s, the main problem was that Square POS does not allow for open orders or opened tickets. This was a necessary ingredient and requirement for Woody’s, thus, was the deal-breaker a week in to its opening. So, it was back to the drawing board.
Next up, POS Lavu. And yes, this time, we have a winner. Lavu, like Square, is a cloud-based POS system that allows you to utilize mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones to conduct commerce. This was the ideal solution for Woody’s for more than one reason. Aside from the fact that they could utilize the equipment they invested in when Square was the POS (iPads, receipt printers, etc.), the owners have other businesses and restaurants, thus, the ability to monitor inventory, sales, and run reports located in the cloud was a requirement.
Below are some screenshots of POS Lavu. If you are interested in learning about Lavu and how it can benefit your restaurant, feel free to contact me.
