Over the last two years, a big part of my vocabulary included the following two words: “plugins” and “modules“. This is due to the vast amount of web development I have conducted in WordPress and Drupal.
Recently, I decided to focus my attention on WordPress when developing interactive websites for clients. Two years ago, I honestly dismissed WordPress as my chosen solution for a content management system because I felt it wasn’t user friendly. I found Drupal to be more organized and intuitive. However, it is common knowledge these days that WordPress-based websites are highly desirable by search engine spiders and clearly, everyone that has a website, wants to be found. SEO is where’s it at! Drupal…not so much (at least until Drupal 8 is officially released and considered mainstream).
While developing a new website for a local CPA, I was presented with a challenge. The client requested a website form which would provide web visitors with the opportunity to request a Consultation. However, the client wants to weed out the potential poor website leads with the solid leads. This would involve programming the form with “conditions” or “rules”. For example, the first question would be:
Per the clients request, if the user chose “Yes”, the next page of the form would present the user with additional questions (used, so my client can prepare for the consultation). In other words, if the user answers “Yes” and then continues to fill out the form, it demonstrates that they are a serious lead.
If the user selects any of the “no” answers, the next page of the form would omit the knitty-gritty questions and would only require them to fill in their contact info such as Name, Email Address, Address, etc. This information is valuable, as it assists in building a prospects database that could be used when conducting email marketing.
It took me a while to find the right plugin for wordpress – but when I found it and then implemented it, I was very excited and very impressed. The plugin is called Gravity Forms. I purchased a license of this plugin (well worth the $39.00). Thank you Gravity Forms!
